Preview - UD Football vs. West Chester

I'll be honest with you... this is West Chester we're talking about here.  So there's not going to be a preview of them on here.  As for Delaware, there are a few things to go over heading into Saturday's game:

  1. Tim Donnelly - I was in Annapolis to see Donnelly take over late in the game, and he did well for coming in cold off the bench.  I still came away from the game thinking that Sasek was the better of the two, but I do have confidence in Donnelly to keep things on track for the Hens moving forward.
  2. The Mistakes - Last week's first half was marred by mistakes.  Too many dropped balls and a fumble on what would have been a first down prevented the Hens from getting anything going against Navy.  If this does not change on Saturday, then Delaware is in for a long season.  I will be looking for the Blue Hens to be more careful with the ball and catching what is thrown their way.  One of my high school coaches said that if you can touch the ball, you should come down with it.  Holds true at every level.  Stop dropping balls.  Start making plays.
  3. The Defense - Worrilow goes from being the "point" in a triple-option scheme to the "quarterback" of the defense and shifts to MLB from OLB last season.  All in one week.  I'm in the camp that is ignoring just about everything defensively from last week's game and coming into Saturday with a clean slate on that side of the ball.  I expect the Hens to start this game like they started last season:  keeping teams out of the end zone.
So with that out of the way, here are the usual preview features...

My Over/Under for UD vs. WCU:
  • Total Points:  39.5 points
  • Delaware Rushing Yards:  144.5 yards
  • West Chester First Downs:  8.5 first downs
Bold Prediction:  Delaware will not allow a point in the first half.

Projected Score:  Delaware 34, West Chester 6
